Next, it was time to begin working on the peghead. First, I used this simple little jig to easily sand the proper angle on the end of the peghead veneer where it butts up against the nut. I used my disc sander with this.
To the right, after I have glued the peghead veneer on, I double-stick-tape my peghead template to the veneer. I drill 3/32" holes where the tuner holes will be, and further attach the template to the veneer with two tiny dowels (actually, bamboo skewers). I then used my "Luthier's Friend" Robo-Sander in the drill press to follow the template, thus shaping the peghead.
