August 3, 1999 . . . . I sprayed the guitar today. I did about 10 coats. It took me about 6 hours, I think. I sprayed a coat, waited 15 minutes, then sprayed another. Every two coats, I lightly scuff-sanded with 220. After the 6th coat, I level-sanded it with 220. Then I added about four more coats.

August 7, 1999 . . . . I waited four days before doing the wet-sanding and polishing. I just used water (with a little dishwashing liquid) and the full set of Micro-mesh sanding papers. I used all nine grits (1500,1800, 2400, 3200, 3600, 4000, 6000, 8000, 12000). By the time I had reached the 12000 grit stage, the guitar was almost as polished as you see here in these photos. But the final use of Finesse-It, Meguiar's #9 and #10, brought the finish up to the gloss you see here.

I did it all by hand rubbing, no buffing wheels or electric polishers. I feel safer about it that way (I have in the past tried using a lamb's wool bonnet on a portable polisher, but sometimes ended up melting some finish!).
