Thursday, July 24th . . . .She said it wouldn't be that difficult . . . .Ha ha ha.
Well, I haven't posted anything new here for about a week because I've been kind of busy doing, as you can see to the left, the insulation on my shed. This is the first time I've done any insulating. Doing the walls wasn't that hard, just a bit tedious and time-consuming.
Only one wall (the windowless wall) had stud spacing that was exactly 16" on center; on those walls, it was easy to just cut the 15" fiberglass batts to length, insert them between the studs, and staple the flanges to the face of the studs. But on the other three walls --- I suppose because of the windows and door --- all the stud cavities were different widths, some narrower than 15" and some wider. Thus, I had to spend a lot of time trimming, piecing together, and taping the batts so they would fit. The ceiling was easier to do, as the roof joists were all exactly 24" on center.
I discovered a neat little time-saving tool along the way --- a little electric staple gun!!! I had one of those squeeze-type staple guns, but they would always jump back on me when I used it, and after a while, my hand would get tired from squeezing the thing. That electric staple gun sure made a big difference!
I also discovered something else . . . . it's usually not until I am almost done with a task, that I finally figure out the most efficient system and technique for how to do it!!! That is how it went with this job. I spent Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (with the help of my mom on Wednesday, when I was doing the ceiling) putting up all the insulation. I hadn't thought it would take me that long, but I guess that's how things go when you're doing something new.
Today the drywall guy comes. . . Hooray!!!!
