2003....
The shed is built!!!! The guys from the Shed Shop came this
morning at 9:00 a.m. and left around 3:30 p.m. Actually, it didn't
even take them that long to build the shed --- they had to take
off for about an hour or so to get some forgotten materials.
All the framing 2-by-4's are already cut to length, so all they
have to do is put it all together!!! They use nail guns so it
goes even faster. I was amazed at how quickly and efficiently
the shed went up.
The shed rests on pressure-treated 4-by-4's; on top of that
are the 2-by-4 floor joists and the plywood floor. The framing
goes up, windows and doors go in, and the composition hardboard
siding goes up. The roofing is plywood, then felt paper, then
30-year dimensioned asphalt shingles. I have three double-paned
windows, a full-size door with the upper half glass panes. The
entire shed is really well-built and solid!
My plans are to paint the exterior and have an electrician
come in Monday to run a subpanel to the shed and put in all the
outlets, etc. Then I will put in insulation and drywall, and
finally paint the interior. Oh, yeah...and some kind of flooring...
