Wednesday, August 11. . . .

Well, since last Friday, I have been enduring the most difficult part, for me, of guitarmaking ---- waiting for the finish to cure before I can level it and polish it out!!! I finished the spraying last Friday and need to wait until this coming Sunday before I can work on it again. I can't stand this waiting. I want to see how it will all come out!!!

But, wait I must. I decided, thus, to take advantage of this interval and work on a few things I've been intending to do for a while now.

Below, you can see a new go-bar deck I've concocted. Working on this guitar, I discovered that my go-bar deck was too shallow to use it for gluing on the top and back, so here's my fix. I owe this idea to my internet pal, Mark Frazier, who shared his idea of using half of a Pony pipe clamp to make an adjustable table for the go-bar deck. This way, you don't have to stack wood below whatever you're clamping, if your deck's too tall, or adjust the top shelf (which would involve unbolting the lock nuts on top), should you need more or less height to your deck. All you have to do is raise and lower the lower shelf for the go-bar deck height you need, by raising/lowering the Pony clamp on the 3/4" pipe supports. I like it!!! Thank you, Mark, for such a simple yet elegant idea!!!

I also did a little house-cleaning in my guitar workroom. I moved some stuff I had using up this shelf space to my old workshed, and am now using this shelf to stack some back and side sets I have accumulated.

Here's another change. This was my old 8" drill press. I put a couple of 8" buffs on it and am thinking of using it to try my hand at buffing out guitars.
