Carving the Scroll: Day 3

Grooves & Chamfers

Sunday, July 22nd, 2001

Today I worked on my yard, so I didn't spend too much time on the violin. But I did manage to do a little shaping of the chin (to the left). In the photo you can also see a line 1mm in from the edges of the outside of the scroll; it runs all the way around the scroll to the pegbox. This line will later be used for the chamfering of the corners of the scroll.

To the right you can see I have begun carving out the grooves on both sides of the center line on the back of the scroll.
