THE SOUNDBOX continued . . .

The sides have been totally kerfed, and I've glued the back to the sides, using my adjustable go-bar deck. This time I routed out the pockets in the kerfing for the brace ends with my Dremel and its router base. It was much easier than trying to chisel out the pockets!

To the right I am gluing on the top.

The soundbox is complete --- except for the binding and tail wedge. That will come next week. . . .

THE FINGERBOARD:

I received a lovely Macassar Ebony fingerboard blank from Hana Lima 'Ia, so I decided to use it for this ukulele. The slots you see down at the bottom of the fingerboard blank are some "test" slots I did, to check the depth of my slots. I used the Stew-Mac miter box and their new fret saw that cuts on the pull stroke. That turned out to be much easier than their old saw.

Oh, yeah...I also recently had bought one of those Incra rulers (the one with the zillion tiny holes and slots). That helped tremendously in marking the slot positions accurately!!!

I decided to bind this fingerboard with ebony binding.
