The Woodland Park Zoo!!!

Tuesday afternoon:

I decided to spend the afternoon back in Seattle, at the Woodland Park Zoo (I love zoos). It's a really nice zoo, with really great habitats for all the animals there. Took a lot of photos! Here are the best ones.

Wednesday, July 27th, 2011:

Well, my vacation was over. I left Lynnwood this morning and drove down to Medford, Oregon, arriving around 5:30 p.m. Ate a wonderful prime rib dinner at Porter's Train Station Restaurant and Bar.

Thursday, July 28th, 2011:

Left Medford and made my final drive down to San Jose, arriving at around 2:00 p.m.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I had a wonderful time on this trip; both the GAL Convention and the short time in the Seattle area were fun and relaxing.

I don't believe, though, that I can conclude this little journal without leaving you with this one word:

GPS!!!!!

This trip was the first time I have ever used this little gizmo (a Garmin Nuvi 260 GPS thingie for my car). WOW — is this a wonderful thing or what??????? I actually didn't ever look at a paper map once during the entire trip! All I had to do was to input the addresses of any place I wanted to go into the thingie, and it told me exactly what I had to do, at each stage of the route, to get there. The NEATEST thing about it was, if I ever took a wrong turn, immediately it knew (magic!), and hearing it say "Recalculating..." was a comforting thing to hear. And, what do you know, it always got me back on track!!!! It was really good, too, at warning you ahead of time whether you had to be in the left or right lane(s), so you weren't caught by surprise when an exit came up. I love this thing!!!! It sure made navigating in unfamiliar territory stress-free!
