Building the Top

Above is the top, after I have routed out the soundhole purfling channels and cut the soundhole with my Dremel circle cutting attachment.   Above is the top, after I have glued in the soundhole purfling. Glued into the middle of the center ring is a teflon strip, which will later be removed to insert the curved abalone strips.

Above is the soundhole, after I have removed the teflon strip, glued in the curved abalone strips in the channel left by the teflon strip, and scraped and sanded it all down level.

Here I am gluing the all the top braces to the soundboard, set upon the 25-foot radius arching dish in the go-bar deck.
